Spot prices of turmeric at Erode markets remained unchanged on lack of fresh upcountry demand. “The price of the spice remains at ₹9,000 a quintal for the past one month. If the demand from North India increases the price may go up. No stockist is buying the turmeric,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
On Friday, 5,700 bags arrived and 65 per cent stocks were sold. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger variety went for ₹7,544-9,299 a quintal; the root variety ₹7,421-8,611. Of the 1,489 bags offered, 680 were sold.
