Spot turmeric prices decreased at Erode markets as arrivals increased to 5,500 bags. Around 60 per cent of the total stocks were sold. The finger variety lost ₹100 a quintal and the root variety ₹85-100.
All the 500 bags of local hybrid varieties were sold. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger variety went for ₹7,298-9,419 a quintal and the root variety ₹7,049-8,519. Of the 1,642 bags offered, 1,298 were sold.
