For the second consecutive day, about 100 bags of new Mysore 8 variety finger turmeric arrived for sale. The buyers procured all the new turmeric. Traders received negligible upcountry demand and so they purchased more than 400 bags of the root variety,” said RKV Ravishankar, a trader. Of the arrival of 3,000 bags, they purchased 60 per cent stock. The price of the root variety was up ₹300 a quintal and the finger variety lost ₹100-200. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger variety went for ₹5,709-8,456 and the root variety at ₹5,239-8,239. Of the arrived 2,581 bags, 1,183 were sold.
