The price of the spot turmeric decreased by ₹150 to ₹200 a quintal. Farmers said they required money for agricultural operations and so were selling at a decreased price. Price of finger turmeric decreased ₹150 a quintal and the root variety by ₹100 a quintal.
Out of the arrival of 3,800 bags, only 55 per cent was sold. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard, finger turmeric sold at ₹7,069 to 9,055 a quintal. Root variety sold at ₹6,835 to ₹7,827. Of the arrival of 1,186 bags 608 bags were sold.
At the Regulated Market Committee the finger turmeric sold at ₹7,699 to ₹8,879 a quintal, root variety sold at ₹7,299 to ₹8,173. Of the arrival of 796 bags, only 600 bags were sold.
