Sugar prices shot up by ₹60-70 a quintal at Vashi market on back of higher demand amid firm mill tender rates. Stockists continued to give fresh orders to meet the upcoming festival demand. Naka rates were up ₹40-50 and mill tender prices went up by ₹30-40.
Arrivals increased to 64-65 truck loads while local dispatches were 62-63 loads. On Friday evening, 14-15 mills offered tenders and sold 48,000-50,000 bags at ₹2,330-2,410 (2,290-2,390) for S-grade and ₹2,430-2,530 (2,400-2,490) for M-grade.
The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹2,460-2,601 (2,420-2,520) and M-grade ₹2,540-2,682 (2,480-2,582). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹2,450-2,530 (2,410-2,480) and M-grade ₹2,550-2,640 (2,500-2,600).
