As much as 95 per cent of 10.15 lakh kg offered for Sale No: 34 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auction was sold despite the average prices rising to seven-week high of ₹94.63 a kg as the demand increased to absorb the low offer. Homedale Estate’s Pekoe Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the Dust auction as also the entire CTC market when Oswal Tea Traders bought it for ₹207 a kg. Darmona Estate followed it at ₹187. In the CTC Leaf auction, Homedale Estate’s Broken Pekoe, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹203. This was the first time in nine-weeks that a CTC grade has crossed ₹200/kg mark. In the orthodox market, Chamraj topped at ₹291 a kg followed by Kodanad at ₹201 and Kairbetta ₹200. PS SUNDAR
