A smartphone-enabled behaviour monitoring system for alerting drowsy drivers, an Internet-based vigilante software algorithm, an amino acid based encryption system were some of the winners of the Unisys Cloud 20/20 competition this year.
Engineering colleges from Pondicherry, Vellore Institute of Technology were amongst the 1,600 odd teams that participated in this competition.
"At a time when intellectual property differentiates one organisation from another, having a mindset that can foster innovation is of paramount importance, said Tarek El-Sadany, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Unisys.
The tech major is also looking to partner with startups in business areas which allies with its business areas. "We have presence in government, financial services and commercial businesses where we offer security, cloud computing and other modern technologies," added El-Sadany.
Further, the technology major which counts Delhi International Airport, Air India as some of its clients, is bullish on India on the back of 'Digital India'. "There is opportunity to the tune of $1 billion that we see," said Ravikumar Sreedharan, MD, Unisys India.
