Reliance Jio has started asking its employees to refer potential subscribers for its 4G telecom services.
The Mukesh Ambani-backed firm had earlier allowed employees of Reliance Industries to try out the services. The invitation-based scheme is another step closer to the commercial launch.
RJio has asked group employees, who had got the trial SIM earlier, to bring 10 more people to the 4G network through a referral invite system. However, those who get the invite will have to buy a LYF phone, which will come bundled with free unlimited 4G data and voice for three months. LYF is Reliance Jio’s own branded smartphone.
The company though is yet to announce its final launch date.
Meanwhile, Anil Ambani-promoted Reliance Communications has launched 4G services at very low price points in a bid to attract subscribers. RCom's existing CDMA subscribers can upgrade to 4G network under a promotional scheme offering prepaid customers 10 GB data at 4G speed for a monthly recharge of ₹75-97.
