Power Ministers from 30-35 countries are likely to congregate at what is termed as the country's largest electrical summit to be held in Vadodara during October 6-10.

Promoted by Gujarat Government, the World Electrical Buyers Summit - named as 'SWITCH' is also likely to host top officials of power utilities from over 90 countries and over 100 Indian power utilities apart from buyers from across the world.

Apart from global leaders, the summit will also witness a two-day meet of State Power Ministers under the leadership of Union Power Minister, Piyush Goyal, on October 6-7.

Announcing the summit in Ahmedabad, B A Shah, Managing Director, Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd, said, "This event is going to be the biggest event in the country and we are providing the platform to the participants, which will include buyers, sellers, consultants, researchers, and entrepreneurs from across the globe."

Power ministers from foreign countries include, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Afghanistan, Tunisia, Uganda, Vietnam, and Myanmar.

"So far, we have received confirmation from 14 countries, but we expect participation of power ministers from 30-35 countries. This summit is going to be a mega event like Vibrant Gujarat," said Amit Patel, President, Federation of Gujarat Industries (FGI), partner trade body in the summit.

"This summit will open new avenues for Indian electrical equipment industry in territories like Vietnam, Myanmar and African region, where China predominantly controlled trade. Currently, India's share in global electrical equipment industry is merely 10-11 per cent but we aim to take it to 25 per cent in a decade," said Patel, who is also the Managing Director of Danke Electricals Ltd.

SWITCH Summit is likely to see over 100,000 visitors, and over 200 buyers from Europe, 75 buyers from West Asia and over 1000 top corporate from India.

According to Patel, Vadodara alone contributes about 23 per cent to India's overall electrical equipment manufacturing.

"We are strong in manufacturing of transformers, switch gears, wires and many other electrical equipment. This summit will become a platform to showcase our products to the world. We expect business generation of around Rs 1,000 crore from the summit," the FGI president said.

The summit will also have Innovation and Technology summit as part of it, thereby providing a platform to start-ups and entrepreneurs.
