To cater to the rush of pilgrims for Ganga Sagar Mela, Eastern Railway has arranged 45 services of EMU special trains on Sealdah-Lakshmikantapur-Namkhana section between January 12 and January 16.
Two EMU special trains from Sealdah to Namkhana, one EMU special from Kolkata to Namkhana, two trains from Namkhana to Sealdah, one EMU special from Lakshmikantapur to Sealdah and one EMU special train from Namkhana to Lakshmikantapur have been arranged to run daily, ER said in a press release.
This, apart, other special trains are also being arranged by ER.
Interestingly, with no Kumbh Mela being held this year, the rush at Ganga Sagar is expected to be manifold.
Moreover, ER has also made elaborate arrangements for the convenience of the pilgrims like adequate and emergency lighting at the station premises of Lakshmikantapur, Kakdwip and Namkhana, additional arrangements for drinking water, additional booking counters – three at Sealdah, four at Kakdwip and three at Namkhana during the mela period.
