The true transformation of India is only possible when we change our country's mindset from cynicism and pessimism to one of optimism and confidence, said Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Power, Coal and Energy.
He was addressing the inaugural Prof. Shivdasani Memorial Lecture organised by the Alumni Association of Jai Hind College in Mumbai last evening. Goyal himself is an alumnus of the college.
Speaking at length about how good governance can lead to sustainable development, Goyal emphasised the need for citizen participation and involvement in this sphere of development. While questioning the value of subsidies, Goyal argued that it limits the scope of development.
A well planned and holistic approach would always ensure a wider reach of those benefits, he said.
