Spot turmeric prices decreased further at Erode markets due to heavy arrivals. “The arrival remains unchanged at 10,000 and odd bags per day and 65-70 per cent arrived stocks are purchased by the traders. Though there is no upcountry demand, they are buying the quality turmeric,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association. On Wednesday, of the arrival of 10,500 bags, 65 per cent stocks were sold. The price of the finger and root varieties were down by ₹300 a quintal. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹8,385-9,794 and the root variety ₹8,104-9,110. Of the 3,014 bags offered, 1,650 were sold.
