Two aqua farmers, Ramachandra Raju and Venu Dantuluri, have come up with an app to help aqua farmers improve yields and quality of produce. Aqua App targets 75,000 aqua farmers along the Andhra Pradesh coast, listing out manufacturers of feed and avoiding middlemen in transactions.
Venu, along with investor Prakash Dantuluri has put in a seed fund of $100,000 to develop the app.
The app also provides information about the weather, latest information in the aqua industry and market prices, giving the farmers visibility of the complete ecosystem.
“Over 1,000 farmers have downloaded the app so far,” Venu said in a statement.
“Farmers get advice on feed, direct access to top manufacturers and daily market prices,” said Raju, who is the President of Delta Fish Farmers Welfare Association.
Venu said the team would like to reach out to all the aqua farmers in the State in the next few months. “After getting good numbers in Andhra Pradesh, we would like to target the aqua farmers in Odisha and West Bengal,” Venu said.
