Honda Cars India (HCIL) on Monday said it is recalling 31,000 units of its non-anti lock braking system (non-ABS) variants of the Brio and Amaze sedan (petrol version) for inspection of the proportioning valve manufactured between February 28, 2013 and January 16 this year.
The company will carry out an inspection of the faulty valve in 15,623 units of non-ABS variants of the Brio and 15,603 units of non-ABS variants of Amaze petrol, it said in a statement.
The proportioning valve is a part of the brake system, which adjusts brake distribution pressure to the wheels. The proportioning valve is not a part of the braking system for ABS variants and, therefore, ABS variants of the Brio and Amaze petrol and all variants of Amaze diesel do not require any inspection, it said.
“There is a possibility that in some of these cars there is miss-assembly of proportioning valve. However, no complaint related to this part has been reported,” the company said.
HCIL will voluntarily replace the proportioning valve after inspection, if required, in the next few days.
The inspection and replacement would be carried out free of cost at HCIL dealerships, and owners will be contacted individually in a phased manner, it added.
