Vishnu Vardhan loses doubles final

Vishnu Vardhan and Toshihide Matsui of Japan were beaten 6-4, 7-6(4) by fourth seeds Yannick Jankovits of France and Luca Margaroli of Switzerland, in the final of the $50,000 men’s Challenger tennis tournament in Uzbekistan on Saturday.

The champion team collected $3100 and 90 ATP points, and the runner-up had to be content with $1800 and 55 ATP points.

In the $25,000 ITF women’s event in Montpellier, Prarthana Thombare and Eva Wacanno of the Netherlands asserted themselves against Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain and Jil Teichmann of Switzerland, with a 7-5, 2-6, [11-9] victory after a shaky start.

Women: $25,000 ITF: Fergana, Uzbekistan: Final: Polina Monova & Yana Sizikova (Rus) bt Prerna Bhambri & Ankita Raina 7-6(0), 6-2.

$25,000 ITF, Montpellier, France: Final: Eva Wacano (Ned) & Prarthana Thombare bt Lourdes Dominguez Lino (Esp) & Jil Teichmann (Sui) 7-5, 2-6, [11-9].

$10,000 ITF, Grand Baie La Croisette, Mauritius: Semifinals: Snehadevi Reddy bt Chayenne Ewijk (Ned) 6-4, 7-6(3). Doubles: Kyra Shroff & Dhruthi Venugopal bt Nidhi Chilumula & Snehadevi Reddy 6-3, 6-0.

$10,000 ITF, Sharm El Sheikh: Semifinals: Melissa Ishuan Ifidzhen (Ngr) & Petra Januskova (Can) bt Ushna Suhail (Pak) & Tanisha Rohira 6-2, 6-1.
