Second seed Somdev Devvarman failed to capitalise on a rousing start as he was beaten 0-6, 7-5, 6-3 by Ti Chen of Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals of the $50,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday. Somdev collected $1460 and 15 ATP points.In the $15,000 ITF men’s Futures event in Calgary, sixth seed Sanam Singh made the quarterfinals. In the $15,000 women’s event in Barcelona, Snehadevi Reddy cruised past qualifier Seone Mendez of Australia.
Karman for US OpenKarman Kaur Thandi made the girls’ singles semifinals of the ITF grade-1 junior tennis tournament in Quebec, Canada, and the effort gained her an entry into the main draw of the US Open junior event, as a “special exempt”. Otherwise, Karman, ranked 86th in the world, was scheduled to go through the qualifying event.
