Poor start by Aditi Ashok

Dusseldorf: Rookie Aditi Ashok made a modest start to her campaign at the ISPA Handa Ladies European Masters in Germany with a one-over 73 on the first day.

The 18-year-old Aditi, who represented India at the recent Rio Olympic Games, had two birdies and three bogeys in her round. She was tied 42nd but a good number of golfers were yet to finish their round at the Golf Club, Hubberlath.

Aditi had an early tee time began at the first bogeyed the par-3 second.

But she bounced back with back-to-back birdies on par-5 third and par-4 fourth to get into red numbers.

She was one-under at the turn but bogeys on par-4 10th and par-4 14th saw her drop to one-over and finish the day at 73. Aditi represented India in the women’s Olympic golf in Rio, contending at halfway after an opening pair of 68s — PTI
