MBC on track to keep cup

Chennai: Coming to the business end of the 75th ARAE-FEARA Regatta hosted by the Madras Boat Club (MBC) here on Friday, Madras Boat Club kept itself on track to retain the prestigious Willington Trophy for men's coxed fours.

On a day when exciting races were par for the course, the MBC coxed fours team — Philip Joseph, Rohit Ravindra, Tyshar Bansal, Saketh Reddy and Anirudh — prevailed over Bengal Rowing Club (BRC) in a tight finish in the penultimate race of the day. The MBC team will take on Colombo, which got past Calcutta Rowing Club (CRC).

With 63 races conducted through the day, the finalists were decided across all events.

Colombo looks to be a strong contender for the overall trophy with College of Military Engineering, BRC and MBC hot on its heels.

The FEARA men's masters and super master events saw some keen competition with MBC pulling off a very exciting win over SWSC in the men's masters coxed fours.

ARAE: Men: Single scull: SRASSC Water Sports Centre (SWSC), MCB-B; Double sculls: Lake Club Calcutta (LC), Colombo-B; Pairs: Colombo-B, Colombo-A; Coxed fours: Bengal Rowing Club-A, Colombo.

FEARA: Men: Single scull: College of Military Engineers, SWSC.

FEARA super masters: Single Scull: CME, BRC-B; Double sculls: MBC, CRC; Coxed: LC 2RI.

Sub-junior boys: Single scull: MBC-B, LC.

Sub-junior girls: Single Scull: CME, Trishna, LC-B, BLRC.
