Mahesh Bhupathi and Purav Raja lose doubles semifinal

Third seeds Gero Kretschmer and Alexander Satschko of Germany beat Mahesh Bhupathi and Purav Raja 7-5, 6-3 in the doubles semi finals of the $50,000 + H Challenger tennis tournament in Bangkok on Friday.

The Indian pair, which had beaten the second seeds in the first round, collected $1080 and 33 ATP points for the semi final appearance.

Meanwhile, Eetee Maheta was beaten in three sets by fourth seed Despina Papamichail of Greece in the quarterfinals of the $10,000 ITF women’s tournament in Cairo.

Ashmitha Easwaramurthi in partnership with Nika Kukharchuk of Russia was beaten in the doubles semi finals by top seeds Petra Krjsova of the Czech Republic and Chantal Skamlova of Slovakia.

$10,000 ITF women, Cairo, Egypt

Doubles (semifinals): Petra Krejsova (Cze) & Chantal Skamlova (Svk) bt Nika Kukharchuk (Rus) & Ashmitha Easwaramurthi 6-3, 6-2;

Quarterfinals: Helen Ploskina (Ukr) & Patrycia Polanska (Pol) bt Maria Zotova (Rus) & Eetee Maheta 4-6, 7-6(2), 10-1.
