Nehra, Dhawan star in Mumbai's collapse

Mumbai Indians just folded quietly without a fight, with a landslide that started with Parthiv Patel's wicket in the first over of their innings.

This is a terrific, terrific win for SRH. They just shot right up to the top of the table, past the Delhi Daredevils, tying with the Gujarat Lions and Kolkata Knight Riders.

All five bowlers from SRH were at their best and they had some brilliant batting to defend as well. A well-etched innings from Dhawan, backed up effectively by Warner and Yuvraj Singh, went a long way in ensuring that their bowlers didn't have to work too hard.

In the end, though, it didn't matter much as Mumbai Indians just folded quietly without a fight. The landslide that started from Parthiv Patel's duck in the first over of their innings was never really stemmed and MI just went from the frying pan into the fire.

MI has to go back to the drawing board now, while this match has just made qualifying for the play-offs that much easier for SRH.

Over 17: MI 92

It's all over for MI. We hadn't even finished saying that they seemed intent on holding in till the end.

Bumrah goes for a 6 to Barindar Sran. Good edge. Good catch by Ojha.

Over 16: MI 92/9

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar in to bowl. He picks the last wicket up, he'll get the purple cap from McClenaghan. Last ball of the over is a full toss, Harbhajan slugs it to the boundary. Fielder tries hard, but can't stop it. 7 runs this over.

SRH is desperately looking for a wicket to finish things off, but MI seem intent on holding on till the end.

Over 15: MI 85/9

Bumrah, the last man in. Sran is the bowler, ball goes for a four. A very thick outside edge. Then a single. Sran bowls a wide wide. Bhaji gets a quick single in between. 7 runs this over.

********

Strategic time-out comes on.

********

Over 14: MI 78/9

Mustafizur in to bowl. McClenaghan hits him for a four. The Required Run Rate is now at 15.84. Single. Dot ball. Two wides from Mustafizur.

McClenaghan OUT. It's okay MI. You tried.

Over 13: MI 70/8

Henriques in to bowl. Two singles and a very welcome boundary for MI. Harbhajan's hanging on. Let's hope he hangs on till the end of the 20 overs. 8 runs off this over.

Over 12: MI 61/8

Pragyan Ojha is having a lovely day at work. Tim Southee out, caught by Ojha. Bye bye, MI. 58/8.

Left hander McClenaghan in, batting with his right hand. A switch hit? Now? Really? But then again, MI seems to have given up.

Gujarat Lions attempting some sly humour:

MI need 116 runs from 48 runs.

Over 11: MI 58/7

Henriques to bowl. Dot ball, Bhaji lifts the second ball up and high, but there's no one underneath, thankfully. Just two runs. Dot ball. Two singles. Dot. 58 for the over. MI need 120 runs from 55 balls.

Over 10: MI 54/7

Mustafizur in to bowl but Hardik Pandya has to take the long walk back to the pavillion. Ojha takes the catch. It looked like Pandya missed nicking the ball with his bat but the umpire thought otherwise. MI's fabled deep batting side is in shreds.

MI's twitter handle is certainly cheerful, considering their situation.

Tim Southee in.

Over 9: MI 50/6

Henriques in to bowl. Two dot balls and a single. Pollard tries for a six, but unfortunately, there is Barindar Sran standing right below. Pollard goes for 11. He tried to muscle that one out of the park, but it just didn't make it. Think this the nail-coffin moment for MI?

--- Strategic time out ---

Harbhajan Singh in to bat. He hits one straight up in the air, but it's safe. Finds Sran again. MI needs 128 runs in 11 overs with 4 wickets in hand. This does not seem to be doable at all.

Over 8: MI 48/5

Sran in to bowl. Pollard takes him to the boundary. FOUR. Dot ball. And then, FOUR. Field change. Fine leg coming in to the circle. Dot ball. There's a dead ball. Last ball of the over heads towards the boundary, but Warner is in the way. It feels like Warner is always in the way for MI. Just a single then. 10 much-needed runs this over.

Over 7: MI 38/5

Henriques in to bowl. 6 quiet runs for MI this over.

Over 6: MI 32/5

Nehra back in to bowl. Five dot balls. Single run off this over for MI. Nehra has 3 wickets for just 15 runs against a team that seemingly had a great batting line-up. But MI are struggling in the middle, mostly due to some great bowling from Nehra.

Over 5: MI 31/5

Kieron Pollard in to bat. Barinder Sran in to bowl. Aaaand Krunal Pandya goes. For a single. At this point, MI needs a fairy godmother. Did we say Mumbai bats deep? Hardik Pandya in. Single run off this over.

Over 4: MI 30/4

Nehra again to Rayudu. A single. Second ball goes for a meaty meaty SIX by Pandya. Much needed runs for MI. There's a single.

And no. No no no. Oh MI. What are you going to do now? Nehra strikes again. Rayudu goes.

Jos Buttler in. Jos Buttler out. Nehra's the man. Third wicket of the day for Nehra. Fourth for MI, who're kinda tottering out here.

Over 3: MI 20/2

Nehra to Rayudu, dot ball. But MI almost lost another man. Dot ball again, and then, FOUR. Easy peasy for Rayudu.

ANOTHER FOUR. Pandya feels left out of all that actiona and chips in with his own boundary. MI at 20/2.

Over 2: MI 9/2 (Pandya 4, Rayudu 0)

Ashish Nehra in to bowl. BOWLED! Captain Rohit Sharma departs. MI in trouble. Krunal Pandya in at No.4. Dot ball. Dot ball. Dot ball. It's a fantastic start for SRH.

Short delivery from Nehra, goes for four.

Over 1: MI 5/1 (Sharma 5)

Rohit Sharma and Parthiv Patel in for MI. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar for SRH as the bowler. AND FOUR. The very first ball. There's a single and the third ball gets an appeal from Kumar, but nope. Three dot balls.

Parthiv Patel out for a duck.

Excellent over for Kumar.

**********

Great innings from Shikhar Dhawan. SRH had gotten off to a really great start and were cruising ahead nicely. Harbhajan put a stop to it with two quick wickets, but he only slowed SRH, not stopped them. Dhawan continued, with Yuvraj chipping in here and there. Good, tight bowling from MI too, as well as the fielding. Several balls that should have gone to the boundary were saved with some quick fielding.

MI now have a target of 178. They have a terrific batting line-up, but then again, SRH have a good bowling set-up as well.

Stick around for the chase, because this is about to get interesting.

***********

Over 20: SRH 177/3 (Dhawan 82, Henriques 1)

McClenaghan in and FOUR. Yuvi's in his element. Single. MI players are sitting with their chin in their hands, hoping the last runs aren't added.

Oops. Jinx. Did we say Yuvi was in his element? OUT. He hits his own bails. McClenaghan rubs his hands in glee.

Henriques in. No run. Important dot ball as it doesn't let Dhawan back on strike. Which means extra runs saved. Last ball single for Henriques.

Over 19: SRH 170/2 (Dhawan 81, Singh 34)

Bumrah back in, his last over. Two singles, one each for Dhawan and Yuvraj. A dot ball, single and then, SIX. Followed by a FOUR. SRH are really hitting their strides in the last overs. 13 of this over. It seems our question was answered. They've hit 170. One more over to go. Crucial, crucial, crucial.

Over 18: SRH 157/2 (Dhawan 70, Singh 32)

Southee in to bowl. SRH seem quite comfortable now. Two runs off the first, a single off the second. Third ball, SIX. Yuvraj is really enjoying himself. Fourth goes near the boundary but is saved. A single. The fifth is not that lucky. FOUR. 14 runs this over. Two more to go. Will they hit 170?

Over 17: SRH 143/2 (Dhawan 63, Singh 25)

Bumrah in to bowl. Dhawan sends him straight to the boundary. it's a full delivery and Dhawan slices him neatly for a four. Bumrah gives him a yorker and Dhawan hits him four on the next ball. Fourth ball goes for four AGAIN. This time it's a full toss. Come on Bumrah. Massive over for Dhawan. Three boundaries, a single and two dot balls this over.

Over 16: SRH 130/2 (Singh 25, Dhawan 50)

McClenaghan in. One leg bye, a single and then, FOUR. Dhawan at 49.

A well placed shot and Dhawan gets his 50 with a single.

McClenaghan throws Yuvraj a bouncer - a wide. Yuvraj hits a powerful stroke to get a boundary off the next ball. Four. Two runs off the last ball. Good, solid over for SRH.

Over 15: SRH 116/2 (Singh 18, Dhawan 45)

Pollard in to bowl and Yuvraj SMASHES the first ball to a FOUR. The ball hit the bat with a loud crack and the crowd cheers. They're thinking, "Finally!".

Second ball is HUGE. Goes for a six. Crowd is wild now. This is classic Yuvraj. This is the guy who hit Stuart Broad for six sixes. Two singles up and then, ball five goes high up in the air and then rolls towards the boundary, but it's saved. Last ball, Yuvi swings and misses. Ball goes safely to the keeper. 14 runs this over.

Over 14: SRH 102/2 (Singh 5, Dhawan 44)

Yuvi at the crease. Excellent over by Tim Southee. Just 6 runs this over. SRH need to pick up their pace now. Just 6 overs left. Yuvraj just couldn't find the gap to the boundary this over. He tried his hand there with several will-placed shots, but some good fielding by MI has saved several runs for the team. This will definitely count during the chase. Is 150 doable?

Over 13: SRH 96/2 (Singh 2, Dhawan 41)

Bumrah in to bowl. Excitement in the middle. There's a run-out attempt by Rohit Sharma, but he's too slow - even with the batsmen already in the middle of the pitch. Otherwise, quiet over. Well bowled by Bumrah.

Over 12: SRH 93/2 (Dhawan 38, Singh 1)

Last over for Harbhajan. Uh oh. Kane Williamson's gone. Rohit Sharma dives in, takes a very low catch and rolls over. Two scalps in quick succession for Harbhajan.

Yuvraj is the next man in.

Over 11: 90/1 (Dhawan 37, Williamson 2)

Krunal Pandya in to bowl. Some stellar fielding by Captain Rohit Sharma. He's been diving and falling and rolling all over the place this innings. 5 runs this over.

Over 10: 85/1 (Williamson 0, Dhawan 34)

Bhajji back in. A dot ball, a single, and then, FOUR! Warner hits the ball quite hard. Fourth ball goes to the boundary again, a hard and fast straight drive - almost takes off Harbajan's fingers with it.

And Warner's gone. Harbhajan has his revenge. Pollard takes the catch. 48 off 33 balls.

Kane Williamson next man in.

Over 9: 76/0 (Dhawan 40, Warner 34)

Kieron Pollard in to bowl. Dhawan is getting his piece of the batting pie after letting Warner take the big shots in the beginning. Fourth ball goes for a four. Last ball is a wide ball. And then, a single.

Over 8: 67/0 (Dhawan 28, Warner 38)

Harbhajan back into the bowling attack. Smart bowling from Bhajji, first three are dot balls. Fourth is a single. Fifth goes for a four. Could have been stopped, but the fielder mis-times the slide in and ball rolls away to the boundary. Single from the last ball. Six runs this over.

Time for a strategic time-out.

Over 7: SRH 61/0 (Dhawan 23, Warner 37)

Powerplay ended with the previous over. Hardik Pandya in to bowl. Very quick outfield. Hardik's fourth ball goes for a four. Bumrah tries to stop it, but hits the boundary anyway. Cap's not happy. Good over for SRH. 10 runs this over, all from Dhawan.

Over 6: SRH 51/0 (Dhawan 13, Warner 37)

McClenaghan in to bowl. Bhajji's been banished to the gully. Some sharp fielding by MI today. Third ball of the over, Warner clears it to the boundary neatly. Fourth ball has been despatched to the boundary as well, this time much quicker. Fifty for SRH.

Over 5: SRH 40/0 (Dhawan 11, Warner 28)

Bumrah in to bowl and Warner hits him for a four on the first ball. That's some form there for Warner. The crowd is absolutely loving it. Six runs off this over,

Over 4: SRH 34/0 (Warner 23, Dhawan 10)

Bhajji is the man. Harbhajan Singh comes on to bowl. Single off the first. Massive six, the first one of the day, off Bhajji's second ball this over. No run off the third and the fourth ball goes for a comfortable four. No run off the fifth. Sharma almost gets under the sixth ball, but no dice. Quick running between the wickets.

Over 3: SRH 23/0 (Warner 12, Dhawan 10)

Southee back with the ball. Lovely stroke by Warner at the second ball, makes it all the near the boundary but MI skiller Rohit Sharma gets to it just in time. SRH get three quick runs. Third ball also almost goes to the boundary, but is saved. Very very quick running between the wickets there. Last ball, slow delivery. 9 from the over.

Over 2: SRH at 14/0 (Dhawan 6, Warner 7)

Noisy, noisy stadium, and it's only getting louder. Mitchell McClenaghan up for the ball this over. A run-out attempt there, but Warner makes it back to the crease with plenty of time to spare. Last ball of the over goes for a boundary.

Over 1: SRH at 7/0 (Dhawan 1, Warner 5)

First ball of the match and Warner sends it to the boundary for a four. The fans go crazy. Southee stumbles and rolls down the pitch after bowling the second ball and appeals, but no go. It's a leg bye. Something's up with the sightscreen. A slight stumble at the crease by Warner at the fourth ball. A yorker from Southee for the last ball this over.

It's a bright sunny day at Vizag's Dr. YSR ACA-VDCA Stadium. Sunrisers Hyderabad's David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan walk in as openers. Tim Southee has the ball.
