TRS flays former Minister of Maharashtra

October 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - ADILABAD:

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Saturday criticised former Maharashtra Minister Shivaji Rao Moghe and former Adilabad District Congress Committee president C. Ramchander Reddy for their stand on the inter-State Lower Penganga Project. The party said they were misleading people on the issue of construction of barrages across the river.

Addressing a press conference, TRS farmer wing district president B. Goverdhan Reddy said the Congress, to which Mr. Moghe belongs, did nothing to start work on the project when it was in power. Former Union Minister and president of Nationalist Socialist Party, Sharad Pawar, only sent a representation to the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the fag end of the UPA rule, he pointed out.

The TRS leader accused Mr. Ramchander Reddy of scaring people by saying that the barrages coming across Penganga would be of no use. He said in order to irrigate lands in Adilabad constituencies, the State government was going ahead with the construction of barrages instead of waiting for work on the LPP to start.
