SP warns against selling SIM cards without ID proof

April 08, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - NIZAMABAD:

Superintendent of Police S. Chandrashekar Reddy has warned SIM card sellers against strict action if they failed to collect the required personal details of the purchasers. Passport size photographs, photo copies of voter ID card or driving licence or passport or personal ID card must be collected for address proof, he said.

All mobile operators should follow the guidelines of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India while issuing SIM cards to users, he said. The police came to know that in the district certain persons were selling SIM cards without taking personal details from purchasers, and that would count as an offence, he said.
