Members owing allegiance to the ‘Bhadrachalam Zilla Sadhana Committee’ on Monday launched a relay hunger strike in Bhadrachalam demanding creation of a new district with Bhadrachalam as its headquarters.
Bhadrachalam ZPTC Member G. Ravi Kumar and Mandal Parishad President Uke Shanthamma inaugurated the hunger strike camp at Ambedkar Centre in the temple town. The speakers at a meeting said that Bhadrachalam, which is the divisional headquarters town, is considered a gateway to Telangana.
Stressing on the need for declaration of Bhadrachalam as a separate district, they asserted that such a move would pave way for the accelerated development of the tribal areas.
