Probe sought into death of tribal woman

February 02, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:50 am IST - KHAMMAM:

Members of Girijana Sankshema Parishad (GSP) staged a protest in Bhadrachalam on Monday demanding a probe into the suspicious death of a 20-year-old tribal woman of Charla mandal, who was found charred to death in Manuguru mandal on Friday.

The tribal woman, a D.Ed student, who went missing from her home in Charla mandal over a week ago, was found dead under suspicious circumstances near a eucalyptus plantation abutting Manuguru-Warangal road on Friday.

The Manuguru police registered a case of suicide based on a suicide note, which they claimed to have recovered near the body of the deceased at the plantation, sources said.

However, the father of the deceased suspected foul play. He sought a detailed probe into the case alleging that his daughter was murdered by some persons at the behest of a woman known to her.

Meanwhile, scores of activists led by the GSP convener S Veeraiah took out a rally in Bhadrachalam on Monday demanding a thorough investigation into the suspicious death of the tribal woman. They staged a demonstration at the entrance of the office of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) and submitted a memorandum.
