CRPF constable’s rifle goes off accidentally

The rifle of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable accidentally went off near the bus station in Bhadrachalam town on Wednesday.

However, none was injured in the incident.

Sources said that the constable of CRPF 141 Battalion accidentally pressed the trigger of his service rifle while walking towards a shop adjoining the bus station complex in the morning.

Avert A major tragedy was averted as the rifle slung over the constable’s shoulder was pointed downwards when the weapon accidentally went off.

On hearing the sound of firing, the passengers at the entrance of the busy bus stand ran helter-skelter in panic.

The temple town police rushed to the spot after hearing the news of accidental firing and initiated a detailed inquiry into the incident.
