City police busted an online lucky draw racket and arrested its 32-year-old kingpin from Uttar Pradesh.

A Begum Bazaar resident in 2014 registered a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police of Hyderabad stating that he was cheated by an online shopping website SandsShoppingHub.com that lured him into revealing his debit card details on the pretext of selecting him for heavy discounts on consumer products. Around Rs. 70,000 were siphoned off from the complainant’s account before he realised he was cheated.

As part of their investigations, the police traced the transactions from the victim’s accounts to New Delhi and launched efforts to arrest Sandeep Sahota. When they nabbed him, the police also found incriminating material on his person and Rs. 1.5 lakh cash.
