Minister honours Malavath Poorna

Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Saturday honoured mountaineer Malavath Poorna, who conquered the Mount Everest, and who also spoke at the United Nations General Assembly recently.

Earlier, district Collector Yogitha Rana introduced the 16-year-old girl who became a celebrity with her achievements when an official meeting was in progress at the Pragathi Bhavan.

The Collector also said that Poorna is the brand ambassador of the Swachh Bharat programme in the district.

Belonging to Scheduled Tribe community in Pakal village of Sirikonda mandal, the girl studies in the Social Welfare Residential School at Tadwai mandal headquarters in the district. MLA Bajireddy Govardhan, under whose Assembly constituency, Nizamabad (rural) comes, lauded Poorna.

MLC V.G. Goud was also present.
