KCR raises hopes of villagers

It is the duty of elected representatives to transform villages, said Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao during Grama Jyothi programme.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has said that ‘Grama Jyothi’ (light) has been ignited and it would continue till the transformation of State into ‘Bangaru Telangana’.

“The Grama Jyothi programme is a continuous process till the villages are transformed,” he maintained.

The Chief Minister made this announcement addressing a grama sabha as part of Grama Jyothi programme in Chinnamulkanoor village of Chigurumamidi mandal in Karimnagar district on Monday night.

Addressing the villagers, he called upon all the elected representatives of Panchayat Raj system to play an active role in the development of villages by keeping aside political considerations.

“It is the duty of elected representatives to transform the villages, which were being neglected since Independence, and are turned into dust bins,” he said.

He also urged upon the elected representatives - Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs - and district officials to strive to transform the villages by playing an active role. He was also all praise for the philanthropists who had come forward to contribute for the development of their village.

Stating that still there were shelterless people in the village, he instructed district administration to identify land for the construction of two-bedroom houses to all the villagers. He said that he would again visit the village within 10 to 12 days to lay stone for the housing scheme. The Chief Minister announced several sops to the village, such as conduct of mega medical camps with corporate hospital doctors and eye camps and distribution of medicines and spectacles.

Assuring villagers of providing irrigation sources to entire Husnabad Assembly segment within two years, he also called upon them to take up vegetable cultivation and dairy units in the village. He promised to provide tap connection to every household in the village within six months.
