Collector Neetu Prasad expressed her ire against the hospital staff for treating all fever cases as viral and not conducting tests to detect dengue and malaria cases.

The Collector made a surprise visit to the government headquarters hospital in Karimnagar on Tuesday and inspected all the wards and interacted with the patients undergoing treatment and checked their medical case sheets.

Finding fault with the hospital staff for not conducting tests to detect dengue and malaria positive cases in spite of patients suffering from fever for more than 10 days, she instructed the authorities to conduct dengue and malaria tests for all the patients.

‘Buy more Elisa kits’

She also instructed the district medical and health officer to depute lab technicians for the conduct of various tests at the headquarters hospital for two-month period. She also instructed the authorities to purchase more Elisa kits for conducting the tests. She directed the authorities to use the 150 beds which were purchased recently. She also said that the administration would conduct medical camps in rural areas following high incidence of viral fever cases in the district. When the patients informed her about the ill-treatment by the nursing staff, the Collector counselled the nurses to provide proper treatment in a friendly manner. After all, the nurses are not doing any charity, she said. Hospital Superintendent Suhasini, RMO Padmavathi and others were also present.
