Inter-State gang busted

The Kamareddi police led by Circle Inspector S. Srinivas Rao chased and arrested an inter-State property offenders’ gang at Ganj area last evening and recovered 61 tolas of gold ornaments, 15 tolas of silver, one pulsar motorbike, lethal weapons and instruments used in housebreaking.

The accused were identified as Dileep Surne, Maruthi Surne, Shaik Pasha and Shaik Pasha. Aged between 24 years and 46 years, they all belonged to Gaglegoan village of Biloli taluq of Nanded district in Maharashtra. One of the accused, Bingi Madhava Rao of Kothabadi village of Banswada mandal in the district, has been on the run.

Presenting the arrested offenders and property recovered from them before the media, here on Friday, Superintendent of Police S. Chandrashekar Reddy said that on a tip off the CIP and other police personnel rushed to the Ganj gate where seeing the police the gang members took to heels.

After a chase, the police managed to overpower and brought them to the police station. During an interrogation, the offenders disclosed that they were staying at Suraram Colony in Hyderabad and committing property offences since June this year. The absconding Madhava Rao is the co-brother of the Maruthi Surne.

Dilip Surne has been a dossier criminal and involved in thefts in Maharashtra, while Madhava Rao and Maruthi committed housebreaks in Nizam Sagar in the district. They all joined hands and indulged in series of offences. They came to Kamareddi to sell the stolen property last evening, explained the SP.

Mr. Chandrashekar Reddy said that the gang before breaking into houses did recce at the locked houses . Thus, they decamped with valuables from eight houses in the district and six in Medak district. Of the eight housebreaks, they did six were in Kamareddi alone, said the SP.

Sub-Inspector of Police, Nagireddipet, D. Satish Reddy, police constables Ramesh, Pavan, Ramesh and homeguard Balaji assisted in busting the gang.
