The cloud activity being inconsistent in Adilabad, only a few places have received good rainfall so far during this monsoon. The inconsistency has a negative impact on agriculture as farmers at a few places have lost the first-sown seeds, with one of them even committing suicide as he was unable to bear the loss.
Bhainsa, Mudhole, Kubeer and Kuntala mandals in Nirmal division have received rainfall in excess and the crop health is excellent in these mandals. Similarly, farmers in Boath, Neredigonda and Ichoda in Adilabad division too are happy following proper germination of seeds in view of the normal rainfall.
Cumulatively nevertheless, Adilabad and Nirmal revenue divisions along with the remaining three divisions of Utnoor, Asifabad and Mancherial have received deficient rainfall. Asifabad and Mancherial divisions are the worst hit by the prolonged dry spell, having received only 67 and 40 per cent less than the normal rains recorded.
There are only eight mandals of the 52 which have recorded excess rainfall, another eight have recorded normal and 26 are deficient while remaining 10 have received scanty or no rainfall. The rainfall has not resulted in any inflows in any of the projects or even irrigation tanks at the village level.
