The government area hospital in Bhadrachalam, which is currently undergoing major upgradation, acquired a range of new medical equipment, including a state-of-the-art anaesthesia workstation and a modern autoclave recently.

The 100-bed hospital is all set to be upgraded into a 200-bed facility by the end of this year. A spacious new building is being constructed on the premises of the existing building at an estimated cost of Rs. 21 crore.

The hospital situated in the tribal heartland of Bhadrachalam attracts hundreds of patients from the nook and corner of the vast Bhadrachalam Agency, besides the remote tribal pockets of the neighbouring Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh States every day.

The Bhadrachalam area hospital was adjudged the best among all the area hospitals in the entire Telangana by the government earlier this year. The blood bank in the hospital was upgraded with the sanction of modern equipment including platelet component separator and other devices by the Integrated Tribal Development Agency several months ago.

The government has recently sanctioned an anaesthesia workstation to the hospital at an estimated cost of Rs. 12 lakh, said M.V. Koti Reddy, Superintendent of Bhadrachalam area hospital.

The automated system with inbuilt advanced ventilation modes and electronic alarms is proving to be immensely useful in administering anaesthesia effectively during major surgeries, he said.

The upgradation of the medical infrastructure will help in improving healthcare services, he asserted.
