Joint Collector A. Ravinder Reddy said that grain purchase centres would be opened to procure maize, jowar and paddy, and they would come up at Pitlam, Banswada, Yellareddy and Armoor.
The centres would function from April 11. The government issued orders to pay an MSP of Rs. 1,325 per quintal of maize and Rs. 1,570 for jowar.
This season, about 40,000 tonne of paddy was expected to arrive in the market, of which 20,000 to 25,000 tonne would be procured at the purchase centres.
For Grade-I variety of paddy, Rs. 1,450 would be paid per quintal, and average variety would get Rs. 1,410, he said. District supplies officer Krishna Prasad and Markfed assistant director Rekha were also present.
