Union Minister for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya has said that the Centre was ready to set up ESI hospitals at Erragadda, Goshamahal and in old city, provided the State government comes forward with allotment of land required for the purpose.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he said supervision of the teaching staff attendance through online system being implemented in the ESIC Medical College here was getting all round appreciation, including from the Medical Council of India (MCI). The MCI has asked all medical colleges across the country to follow the system.
The online system would give the details of who were all present on a particular day along with their fresh photograph and working hours put in by them that day. He noted that 40 per cent seats in the ESIC Medical College were allocated to students from Telangana.
Further, the Minister said Aadhaar-based attendance was also introduced in all ESIC offices across the country. Stating that health cards of all the workers insured under ESI were uploaded online for faster dispensation of medical services, Mr. Dattatreya said special arrangements were made for health services for aged persons and differently-abled from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Besides, helpline centres working round the clock were also set up in ESI hospitals.
He announced that cancer screening facility was made available in four ESI hospitals and pathology services in six hospitals in Telangana.
Referring to complaints on diversion of funds meant for construction workers by the Delhi government, the Union Minister said they had preliminary information about diversion of about Rs. 600 crore and a letter would be addressed to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal soon since there was no reply from the Labour Minister of the State, when asked for clarification on the issue.
