KARIMNAGAR: Several Dalit organizations under the aegis of Bharatiya Janata Party Karimnagar district unit staged a dharna at Collectorate here on Monday opposing the move to shift Leather Park from Rukmapur village in the district to Station Ghanpur in Jangaon district.

Protestors came in a large procession from Circus Grounds to the Collectorate amid drum beats. Later, they squatted in front of the Collectorate and raised slogans against the government for shifting the Leather Park from the district.

Betraying farmers

Speaking on the occasion, BJP Kisan Morcha national general secretary P. Sugunakar Rao said that the TRS government was betraying the people of Karimnagar district on all fronts. He charged the Government with diverting the Sripada Yellampalli project waters from Ramagundam to Gajwel and Siddipet districts and Hyderabad betraying the farmers of erstwhile Karimnagar district.

Similarly, the Government instead of starting the sanctioned Leather Park in Rukmapur village was shifting it to Station Ghanpur against the wishes of local Dalits.

He also threatened to intensify the agitation demanding the setting up of the Leather Park in Karimnagar district. BJP Choppadandi segment incharge Lingampalli Shankar, district leaders Harikumar Goud and others were present.
