Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy has said that the government has decided to appoint 33 per cent women police force at each police station. “You have a high responsibility of receiving people coming to stations with politeness and send them back after solving their problems,” he said.

Addressing the gathering of people and police personnel on Bheemgal police station premises after inaugurating the newly constructed station on Monday, the Minister said that in a few months to come, 9,000 posts in the department would be filled and several steps are being initiated to strengthen it.

He said after the establishment of Telangana, festivals of all religions are being celebrated in a peaceful atmosphere with communal harmony, thanks to strenuous efforts of the police personnel. He stressed on the need for police to participate in social service activities so as to maintain good relations with people. Expressing happiness over the adoption of villages by the police under ‘Mission Kakatiya’ and ‘Grama Jyothi’, he said that the police men and women are not just confined to the departmental duties and law and order maintenance, but in rendering service for the betterment of society. Praising the role of police personnel during Godavari Pushkaralu, he said the mega event passed off peacefully due to the excellent work done by police. Director General of Police Anurag Sarma said that he had appealed to the Chief Minister and the Home Minister to provide all necessary facilities to take the State police to international level. If 33 per cent posts in the police force are reserved for women, their problems could easily be addressed, he said. SP S. Chandrashekar Reddy disclosed that the district police ranked second in terms of service extended to devotees of Godavari Pushkaralu. While local MLA Vemula Prasanth Reddy presided over the meeting, Additional DGP Sudeep Lakdakiya and Deputy IG of Police Y. Gangadhar were present. Earlier, Home Minister inaugurated the police station at Sadasivanagar in the district.
