Two students among four arrested for red sanders smuggling

Four red sanders smugglers of Karnataka, including two students, were arrested on Kadapa-Kurnool national highway at Mydukur in Kadapa district and seized 11 red sanders logs worth over Rs. 5 lakh and a car bearing a fictitious registration number carrying the logs.

The arrested were Ayub Baig Musafir Mustafa alias Bullet Chan, 43, of Bengaluru, Murugesh, 34, Jasim Ayub, 23, studying Bachelor of Business Management and M. Yarab, 22, a PUC student, all of Hoskote in Bengaluru rural district, Mydukur DSP M.V. Ramakrishnaiah and Urban Circle-Inspector Y. Venkateswarlu told the media at Mydukur.

Ayub Baig Musafir Mustafa alias Bullet Chan, who studied up to sixth standard in Bengaluru, went to Kuwait in 1986 and worked for a firm in Kuwait. He returned to India and ran a lodge in Bangaluru and later traded in used cars, the DSP said.

He was accused in a murder case and was a rowdy-sheeter in Banashankari police station in Bengaluru. He got acquainted with a red sanders smuggler Imtiaz Khan of Katigenahalli in Hoskote taluk in Bengaluru rural district in 2013 and has been smuggling red sanders from Kadapa and Chittoor districts, the DSP added.
