It is that time of the year when the tourist spot will host the two-day summer festival. Yelagiri Hills is all set to wear a festive look on June 11 and 12.
The district administration is gearing up with the preparatory works for the festival. To enable visitors to reach Yelagiri easily, the Regional Transport Office and Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation will operate 60 buses. Of this, 30 buses will be operated from Tirupattur, 15 from Vellore, five from Vaniyambadi and 10 from Ponneri, a press release said.
There will be visual treats in store for visitors. The Agriculture Department’s flower exhibition is organising a flower show and also an exhibition of agricultural implements, while the Department of Animal Husbandry would host a dog show. Many other departments would also set up stalls as part of the festival.
In addition, there would be competitions for visitors. Kabadi, marathon and trekking would be organised.
Following a review meeting with officials recently, Commercial Taxes Minister K.C. Veeramani inspected the boat house at Yelagiri to see the facilities in place. Officials have been asked to operate the boats for visitors in a safe way.
Work is underway at the Nature Park too.
As part of cultural programmes, musical performances are being arranged for the festival.
Silver screen artists would participate in these programmes, the release added.
