July 31, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:04 am IST - ERODE:

Inadequate rainfall in the South-West Monsoon season reflecting in dismal storage in Bhavani Sagar reservoir has put the district administration and the Public Works Department in a piquant situation.

The district administration that is still awaiting a directive from the State Government for water release from the reservoir is not in a position to fulfil the irrigational requirements of ayacuts of Thadapalli-Arakankottai, Kalingarayan and Lower Bhavani Project canals.

The current storage position is only 7.3 tmc of which 2 tmc is dead storage
