Walkathon held

People from different walks of life participated in the walkathon here to create awareness on tuberculosis and the need for taking proper treatment at the right time to escape from this disease.

The walkathon was organised in connection with the World Tuberculosis Day, which falls on March 24.

District Collector V. Sampath flagged off the walkathon from Gandhi Stadium in the presence of senior health and revenue department officials.

A press release said that more than nine million people suffer due to TB every year. Of them, 6 million get proper treatment in time and get rid of the disease.
