Two held for attack on PMK candidate

Two persons were arrested in connection with the attack on PMK candidate for Salem West Assembly constituency P. Arul (45) and his assistant, here on Wednesday.

On April 25, Arul and his assistant Vijayakumar were attacked at their party office near Salem Central Prison. Two cars were also damaged by the assailants. Inquiries revealed that Prakash, a PMK functionary of Kitchipalayam, was unhappy in not getting chance to contest the election.

Hence, he along with his brother, Baskar, Kannan, Muvendar and Divakar attacked Arul. The police have arrested Baskar and Kannan.
