Subedar cremated with military honours

Subedar G. Annamalai, who died while evacuating landslide victims on August 18 in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh, was cremated with full military honours at his native village Periyapalambakkam, Kaniyambadi in Vellore on Friday.

The mortal remains of Annamalai of the 201 Engineers Regiment was flown to Chennai Airport on Thursday night. The body was then brought to his village.

Family members and villagers paid tributes to him. Army officers from Dakshin Bharat Area and State administrative officials paid floral tributes to the Officer, a press release said.

Solatium

School Education Minister K.C. Veeramani and Collector R. Nanthagopal handed over a cheque for Rs. 10 lakh that was announced as solatium from the CM General Relief Fund by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to Rani, wife of Annamalai.
