Claiming that the DMDK- People’s Welfare Front combine is a ‘god-given’ gift for people, Tamil Maanila Congress leader G. K. Vasan alleged that recent attempts by certain party members to physically attack senior leaders of the alliance was a sign that the DMDK-PWF is heading for victory.

“Attacking any person is an act of cowardice and it comes only when someone fears defeat”, he said while campaigning for K. Thangavel of CPI (M) and M. Subramanian of CPI, the DMDK-PWF combine's candidates for Tirupur South and Tirupur North constituencies, respectively, here on Sunday evening.

He promised the voters that the government by DMDK-PWF combine would be fulfiling the aspirations of all segments of people from farmers, industrial workers, weavers, fishermen and casual labourers to people seeking employment.

Blaming the successive DMK and AIADMK for corrupt governance, he said that there was massive corruption in the name of disbursing freebies for the past many years.

Mr. Vasan was of the view that the infrastructure development and improvement of basic amenities did not take place to commensurate with the business volume getting generated from the Tirupur knitwear cluster.

“Even though the exports touched Rs. 20,000 crore, the cluster is not having good road networks. The 100-bedded ESI hospital project did not start after identifying the land.

These aspects along with the inadequate facilities to house the migrant workers and power cuts are proving to be deterrents for the further growth of the cluster. For a change from this and put Tirupur back on growth trajectory, vote for DMDK-PWF government”, he told the voters.

He also promised of a garment trade facility to improve domestic sales and solution to all operational issues in the garment sector.
