A defamation case will be filed against former CBI official K. Ragothaman for spreading false information on ‘Chinna’ Santhan’s involvement in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, lawyer P. Pugalenthi said on Saturday.
Santhan is one of the life convicts in the case and lodged in the Vellore prison.
“In a book about the case, the officer has published a photograph of the blast site. He has pointed out to a person standing next to the former PM saying that it was ‘Chinna’ Santhan. But Santhan has denied that it was him. Why did the officer not investigate it earlier? This is false information and we will be initiating legal action,” Mr. Pugalenthi said. The lawyer said that this photograph was noticed only recently.
