Russia, which has embarked on the mission of constructing 1,000 MWe nuclear reactors at Kudankulam in the district, has honoured the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) Site Director R.S. Sundar with the prestigious ‘Order of Friendship’ award.
In a special ceremony held in the Russian Embassy at New Delhi on last Friday, Russian Ambassador to India Alexander M. Kadakin presented the award to Mr. Sundar in the presence of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, who was the special guest of the function.
The Order of Friendship was established in 1994 to honour Russian and foreign citizens for special merit in promoting peace, friendship, cooperation and understanding between nations.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Sundar expressed his gratitude for the recognition of the labour of all Indian workers and specialists engaged in the implementation of the project.
