Personnel attached to the Government Railway Police-Jolarpet on Thursday seized 500 kg of ration rice that was being smuggled in the Arakkonam-Bengaluru Express.
According to the police, a team led by an inspector boarded the train at Jolarpet and found 20 bags in one of the coaches.
Each bag contained 25 kilos of rice.
They travelled in the train up to Pachur and seized the bags. No arrest was made, police sources said.
