Hindu Munnani’s founder Ramagopalan on Wednesday termed the political parties’ promise to enforce prohibition a poll drama.
“All parties talk about enforcing prohibition in the State only during the elections. They do not oppose it or stage protests during other times. This is only a poll drama,” he told reporters.
He said the Munnani would extend support for the BJP in the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls.
“We had earlier said that our support is for the party that accepts our demands such as legislation to prevent religious conversions and cow slaughter. It is the BJP that has accepted our demands. So, our cadres will campaign for the party,” he added.
Mr. Ramagopalan claimed that terrorists were gaining entry into the country via the sea route in the South. “The ISIS terrorists are gaining ground in Tamil Nadu, but the State police is doing nothing,” he alleged.
Referring to DMK’s election manifesto, he condemned the party’s promise to grant patta for those residing on lands belonging to temples.
He held Manithaneya Makkal Katchi responsible for triggering the riots in Ambur last year, and urged people to boycott the party in the Assembly polls.
