Senior lawyer-activist Prashant Bhushan on Saturday questioned the Centre for signing an agreement with Russia for establishing two more nuclear power units in Kudankulam in Tamil Nadu. He asked what the need was for the UPA Government to sign the deal when the General Election was underway.

Campaigning for the Aam Aadmi Party candidate and anti-nuclear activist S.P. Udayakumar here, he wondered how the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, who was talking of the Gujarat model of development, could be believed when he had kept his marital status a secret in his nomination form.

Though the Election Commission had fixed Rs.70 lakh as the expenditure limit per candidate in a Lok Sabha constituency, the BJP was spending more than a crore, Mr. Bhushan alleged and claimed that the amount was sponsored by corporates.
