Power unit donates Rs. 3 lakh

The P.P.N. Power Generating Pvt. Ltd. have donated Rs. 3 lakh for strengthening the bunds of a part of the shores of the Rajan Vaikal at Thalaignayiru area. In a release here on Friday, S. Palanisamy, District Collector, said the weak shores located close to the coastal area, often got breached to some distance, resulting in the entry of backwaters into the agricultural fields. The shores would be raised and strengthened to a length of about 1 km and the work would be executed by the Vennar sub-basin division of the Public Works Department.

Banks disburse

Rs. 1,952 cr. loan

Banks in the district have disbursed loans to the tune of Rs.1,952 crore so far this financial year. Addressing bank officials at a review meeting here on Friday, S. Ganesh, District Collector, advised them to provide speedy and quality services to pensioners under the OAP scheme. The wages for the members of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme should be credited to their accounts immediately.
