Even a clean sweep by an incumbent government cannot take away the sway of the DMK among government employees or so it seemed. The postal ballots polled in each of the six assembly constituencies reiterated that election-tested pattern this time as well.

In Uthangarai, the winning AIADMK candidate Manoranjitham Nagarajan polled 204 votes while the DMK candidate S.Malathi polled 789 votes. In Bargur the DMK candidate E.C.Govindarajan polled 975 votes, while the AIADMK candidate C.V.Rajendran polled 485 votes. In Krishnagiri, the winning DMK candidate T.Senguttuvan polled 1,416 votes, and AIADMK’s D.Govindaraj polled 908 votes. In Vepanahalli, Murugan of the DMK polled 503 votes and Hemnath of the AIADMK polled 256 votes. In Hosur, the trend was maintained and the Congress candidate Gopinath under the DMK’s alliance polled 874 votes, while Balakrishna Reddy of the AIADMK despite his whopping victory polled just about 282 votes.

Similarly, in Thally, the DMK candidate and the victor Y.Prakash secured 381 votes, while T. Ramachandran of the CPI polled 101 votes.

Incidentally, Krishnagiri also had the highest number of rejected postal ballots followed by Thally and Hosur. Krishnagiri polled 137 rejected postal ballots, followed by Thally with 112 rejected votes; and Hosur with 109 rejected votes.

As for NOTA, only a bare 57 voters had felt that no candidate was worthy of their vote.

In Dharmapuri, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has been a clear choice among government employees as postal ballots polled in the five assembly constituencies here. Equally the PMK had snatched AIADMK’s vote share in postal ballots.
